The staff of Hawk Recreation has a solid commitment to family fishing. We have the experience to help you and your child catch that first fish and while learning more about respecting nature and the outdoors.
We provide all types of fishing equipment including rods, reels and fully stocked tackle boxes. Our Let’s Go Fishing program was developed by Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife with the goal of teaching parents how to teach their children to fish. Private Lessons are also available for Families.

Let’s Go Fishing
Held every Saturday, June-September from 1:00-3:00pm
$30 per family with a maximum of 12 students. Ages 4 and Up.
All participants must be accompanied by an Adult. (1 Adult per 2 children maximum)
Learning to Fish with your child is a unique opportunity and fun experience. The program we use was developed by Vermont Fish and Wildlife and our staff are certified “Let’s Go Fishing Instructors”. They share a passion of teaching families to fish and all equipment is supplied.
The key to this program is to give you the knowledge to help your child learn about Fishing by participating in the program. We will send you home with the experience and reference materials so that you and your children can enjoy fishing both here at Hawk and at home.
We do not kill or injure the fish. During our class we show you how to catch fish and release them unharmed back into the water.
Each program begins at Hawk Recreation Center
Part #1:
Two - 15 minute classes, teaching water safety, casting practice, fish identification, baits, ecology and catch and release.
Part #2:
We move to the Farmhouse Pond for 90 minutes of fishing. We fully understand sometimes it is the birds, bugs and stuff which are most interesting to children. We let your children decide when it is time to explore and/or fish.
Let’s Go Fishing can be booked daily as a private lesson from April to October. Call 802-672-3811 and ask for Recreation for Reservations or Questions.
