Recreation ~ Summer Activities
In summertime, the Black River Valley turns sweet with clover, and clear streams meander alongside country roads...
When summer comes to Vermont, the azure skies create a breathtaking backdrop against the emerald green countryside. Sunlight sparkles on the lakes and streams, and the mountain air is sweet with the scent of summer blossoms.
At Hawk, the Black River Valley's mountain lakes and surrounding hiking trails come alive with residents and guests anxious to take advantage of Vermont's richest treasure - the great outdoors. The crystal clear waters of Lake Amherst host the Hawk fleet of boats for kayaking, canoeing and water cycling, as well as our "Rave" water trampoline.
Relax on the terrace of the Hawk Spa, complete with a twenty-meter outdoor pool. Vent your competitive spirit on the tennis courts, or let Hawk chauffeur you to any of seven nearby championship golf courses. Mountain and touring bikes are always available for a day's excursion and perhaps a picnic at a favorite spot. Even if you have never cradled a fishing rod in your hand, try fly-fishing at one of the secluded trout-filled streams in the area. Stroll in the solitude of Hawk's Nature Preserve, an untouched habitat for animals and migrating birds, or on the bustling streets of nearby Woodstock, one of the most picturesque villages in all of Vermont.
Overall, a wide variety of programs and facilities are available for the entire family at Hawk, where introducing guests to new and exciting activities remains our goal. Programs are designed to provide both instruction and a measure of independence to enable you to experience the unique wonders of the Vermont landscape at your own pace. At the end of the day, sit back, relax and benefit from one of the region's many cultural offerings, including Hawk's free lawn performance series and the world-renowned summer theater at The Weston Playhouse. So, pick and choose among the Resort's countless summer recreational activities, or taste them all over the course of a week. There is definitely an adventure here for you.
