Fly Fishing Classes

Fly fishing is a great fun for any age group!

Sign up for a class today! Call 802-672-3811 and ask for Recreation.

Advance reservations are required as classes fill quickly.
From Sunday to Friday all programs are available as private lessons.

Each Saturday from June to Labor Day, we provide a group setting for three programs. These classes are a good way to sample Fly Fishing with minimal effort. When you are ready we provide more intensive and detailed instruction.

Saturday Fly Fishing Classes

Classes are offered each Saturday beginning at 9am from late June until Labor Day. They are designed to allow guests to sample “The Fly Fishing School at Hawk.” Classes are held rain or shine.

Ground School

9:00 – 11:00 am
$50.00 per person with a maximum of 12 students.
Your first experience with a Fly Rod can be a success. Using proven instruction techniques we will have you casting a fly line in less than 2 hours.Experience tells us that spending the first few hours away from the water allows our students to learn how to cast before adding “fishing” to the mix. All equipment is included.

On the Water

9:00 – 11:00 am
$25.00 00 per person with a maximum of 8 students.
You have just completed Ground School and feel comfortable, now is the time to test you new skill on our stocked pond.
Requires demonstrated basic casting proficiency. Your instructor will select the fly and help you through your quest for the first fish. All equipment supplied.

Stream Fishing

4:00 – 6:00 pm
$60.00 per person with a maximum of 4 students.
With the Black River flowing through Hawk Resort alive with Brown, Brook and Rainbow trout this is a great opportunity to improve your skills.
Your Instructor will take you to one of the best stretches on the Black River and help you with your presentation and improve on what you learned earlier today. This is the perfect end to your first day learning to Fly Fish. All equipment supplied.

Let’s Go Fishing

1:00 – 3:00 pm
$30.00 per family with a maximum of 12 students. All children must be accompanied by an adult (1 Adult per 2 Children Maximum). Check out Family Fishing for more detailed information.

Private Lessons

Private fly fishing lessons are available

Ground School, On the Water and Stream Fishing instruction may be scheduled daily for 1 to 4 students from mid April until late October allowing the maximum one on one time with your instructor.
