Vermont Botanical, Grafton
Each Vermont botanical is the creation of Maggie & Tracy Lake, and is handcrafted in their workshop in Grafton, Vermont. Maggie's love and knowledge of plants and herbs leads her on gathering expeditions throughout Vermont, and to places as far away as the alpine tundra fields of Alaska. With these plant specimens she creates her one-of-a-kind botanicals. Meanwhile, Tracy logs, saws and shapes local and select hardwoods into frame stock, anchoring each corner with an ebony spline. They choose each frame to accent each piece. They also welcome your choice of frame and matting, and offer custom design work. (802) 843-2304

Caulfield Art Gallery, Woodstock
Robert O. Caulfield, nationally known American impressionist painter, maintains this small gallery in the hamlet of Woodstock, where he makes his home. Born in Roxbury, Massachusetts in 1930, he began at the age of five drawing in chalk on the streets of Boston. At the age of 10, his grandparents gave him a set of oil paints. Impressed by the combat artists in Life magazine (Pliesner, Reginald Marsh, and Fletcher Martin), he wrote the magazine at the age of 16 saying he someday wanted to be a national artist. From these humble beginnings this self taught artist has become one of America's best known. His paintings now hang in some of the most prominent homes and businesses in the United States and Europe, including The Plaza Hotel in New York City. (802) 457-1472
