Black River Trail
Intermediate
Take a leisurely glide around the picturesque grounds of the Hawk Inn and along the mouth of the Black River. As if having fallen into a Norman Rockwell painting, you will ski past skaters and children sledding down a snowy slope in a picture-perfect Vermont scene.
Marshland Trail
Intermediate
Ski tour into Hawk's beautiful wooded marshland atop a unique interconnection of wooden bridges where wildflowers bloom in springtime. A wonderful trail for viewing Jack-in-the-pulpit, water arium, bunchberry and starflowers, you will tour along the border of our Forest Preserve under a canopy of tall pines. Our longest dedicated cross-country ski trail then continues around the spring-fed swimming pond, eventually leading to Lake Amherst where ice fishermen are often to be found trying their luck looking for that biggest of lake trout. When conditions permit, you may glide across the entire lake and see how much speed you can build-up on a wide-open flat surface.
